Julie & Julia Movie

Alright, I realize that this is the farthest topic from ‘80’s Nickelodeon that I can get but I can’t help it. Every time I see this film all I can think is, how can I take this blog to the next level? Keeping in mind that everything I post here goes out to my email group and gets posted on Facebook.

Ya know, I post and post and I’m so very thankful for all of you who “Like” these posts on Facebook and all of my subscribers but, does this blog make a difference? Does it really help you to remember “the good old days,” when you were a child and enjoying your favorite shows?

I know it does for me but then over the years I’ve been very fortunate to be able to purchase several of these classics on VHS and DVD so they truly are a part of my life but what about all of you? What would you like to see from this blog?

When I post my Special Deliveries do you show them to your kids? Do they like them? Do I need to post more videos? Articles? Tell me what you think but please note, it is only on a very rare occasion that I will write about a ‘90’s program and I certainly will NOT post any of those ‘90’s cartoons. Sorry if this offends you but this blog is about early to mid-1980’s with the rare glimpse of anything ‘90’s related. The post I made about the Legends of the Hidden Temple is a good example. The ‘90’s Nickelodeon generation is vastly larger than those of us who actually remember the very early ‘80’s programs. That coupled with the fact that many of those shows are now on DVD, plus they air a block of ‘90’s shows on one of the Nickelodeon networks means that your shows are readily available for viewing. Anyway I think you get the picture.

So all of that being said, what do you guys think? Feedback please, and thank you in advance.

Special Delivery – Sound Effects Master Fred Newman

Some of you might think this is an unusual choice for a Special Delivery, and perhaps it is, but if you were around Nickelodeon in the early to mid-1980’s then you will remember Fred Newman as the hose of Livewire, a talk show just for kids.

This audience participated style show was designed for kids of all ages, and the show's main focus discussed true current events and stories during those times. They also mixed it up with a variety of musical guests, storytellers and actors. Even Fred himself appeared as a guest teaching the audience about sound and how to create sound.

Livewire was the first Nickelodeon talk show to achieve a CableACE Award. It was also the #1 rated show on Nickelodeon in 1982, and never went below #7 in the ratings during the 5-year span of the show.

On a personal note, I love Fred Newman, he’s talented and funny and to this day I still have a recording of him on cassette tape when he was a guest himself on Livewire. I loved his “personal theme song” that he did, cracked me up!

With that being said I hope you enjoy this lecture by Fred at the Academy of Art University.

In Search of Saturday

Welcome to “In Search of Saturdays" a weekly advertising space I’ve designed to help our members find those long lost movies, cartoons, TV shows, toys, games and anything else that we’ve all been looking for, for a very long time.

The instructions are simple. Post your personal “looking for” list here and we’ll all see if we can help you find what you’re looking for.

If you can’t remember the name of a show or toy that’s alright, post what you can remember and maybe someone here will be able to tell you what it is. Also please remember that if you are listing television shows or movies please let us know if you are looking to purchase these shows or if you just want to watch them online. Then we, the members of the group, will help try to help each other and go “in search of” those items for our fellow members.

A good places to start our searches is iOffer ( http://www.ioffer.com/ ) which, in my opinion, is better than eBay b/c you can find lots of shows there that you can’t find anywhere else.

MY WANT LIST
This is a list of the Classic Nickelodeon programs that I’m looking for to purchase. Please note that I am a private collector who does not copy and resell my collection. Legends of the Hidden Temple the Movie

As all of you who follow my blog and f/b pages & groups know, I am a strict ‘80’s fan when it comes to Nickelodeon but sometimes you have to make an acceptation.

Legend fans, this one’s for you! And I have to tell you, even I’m excited for this one!

In March 2016, Nickelodeon announced a TV movie version of the game show is in production with Isabela Moner, Colin Critchley and Jet Jurgensmeyer starring in the film as three siblings who break away from a lackluster tour in a jungle, finding themselves immersed in a high-stakes adventure involving obstacles that they must complete in order to escape alive. The film will be directed by Joe Menendez and written by Jonny Umansky, Zach Hyatt, and Alex J. Reid. It will feature elements of the original show, including Olmec, The Steps of Knowledge and cameos from a green monkey, red jaguar and silver snakes, among others.[31][33] Original host Kirk Fogg is also to return, as a fictionalized version of himself and Dee Bradley Baker will reprise his role as Olmec.
