Mini Fan Meet

Mini Fan Meet

URL - http://classic-nickelodeon-forever.jimdo.com/breaking-news/

BREAKING NEWS – Official Date is July 1-3, 2011 mark your calendars!!!

Since the last two fan meets have fallen though I’ve been discouraged thinking that it will never happen but maybe that’s not necessarily the case.

As you all know I live in Altus, OK and I have a friend who lives in Chickasha, OK, which is about three hours from me. We started talking the other day on Yahoo Messenger and thought that instead of a big huge proper fan meet like I was planning what about if we started A LOT smaller so here’s what we came up with.

Hold a “mini fan meet”, as we’re calling it, in Lawton, OK and just have it at a hotel room instead of like a proper banquette room. Everyone can just get their own room (downstairs if possible, I love yall but I have a very bad back and I don’t want to have to climb stairs for two days), she’s bringing a VCR/DVD player and I’m bringing the videos and DVDs and we’ll all just hang out in someone’s room and watch the old shows together. That way there’s no cost for a banquette room or tickets just the price of your room and food and we can all order pizza and I can take some microwave popcorn, someone can run to the store for soda or tea and just be very informal and hang out.

So what do yall think? Would any of you be interested in something like that as apposed to how I was doing it before? Also if you would like a list of the programs that I have to take with me for us to watch please let me know and I’ll post it to the you personally or on the list of whom ever asks me.

DATE – July 1-3, 2011

PLACE – Executive Inn
3134 NW Cache Rd.
Lawton, OK 73505
1-866-539-0036

LOWEST ROOM PRICE – $65

LINK – http://www.hotels.com/ho108131/executive-inn-hotel-conference-centre-lawton-united-states/#description

NOTE – This IS a nice hotel despite the reviews. My Mom and I have stay there every time we go to Lawton and we’ve never had any problems with them. The rooms are clean and come with a mini frig and coffee pot.

For more information contact me at peggysueclay@hotmail.com please add "Fan Meet" to the subject line.

We’re thinking maybe towards the last weekend in July possibly the first weekend in August, still working on the dates. And if it goes well we can do that once a year or more if we get the urge and like I said this way there’s no bothering with tickets or a big banquette room we’ll all just be hanging out enjoying our beloved Classic Nickelodeon.

So what do yall think?

To the TPDIS group – technically this post does seem off topic but since it was going out to several other lists were it was “on topic” I did not put “off topic” in the subject line. Also Nickelodeon showed the OS TP from October 1981 to the mid 1980’s so for most US fans that’s how we discovered the show in the first place. Soooo, if anyone is interested in this please contact me off list or on TP6 or A New Beginning For Classic Nickelodeon email or F/B group/page. Thank you.

To House of 80’s group – This is a “Classic Nickelodeon” fan meet which is focused specifically on the 1980’s so this is on topic for this group.

To Everyone – If you would like a list of the programs that I have to take with me for us to watch please let me know and I’ll post it to the you personally or on the list of whom ever asks me.

Program Title Needed

As most, or all, of you know we have a F/B page and group named after this group (A New Beginning For Classic Nickelodeon) but what you may not have known is that I have also set up a page & group for Nickelodeon’s Special Delivery – title self explanatory.

One of the members posted this on the wall and I told her that I would send this to the group and post on my Classic Nickelodeon Fan Blog as well to see if we can find out that the name of this show was. So here is her post, do any of you know that the name of this show is?

Lindsay posted on Nickelodeon’s Special Delivery's Wall. Lindsay wrote: "Does anyone remember the SD movie about a group of alien-type humans whose eyes glowed red when they saw gold or some kind of metal? It's been driving me crazy for years that I cannot think of the title!"

SID AND MARTY KROFFT’S H.R. PUFNSTUF CELEBRATES 40 YEARS

SID AND MARTY KROFFT’S H.R. PUFNSTUF CELEBRATES 40 YEARSBy First Comics News– February 21, 2011

LOS ANGELES (February 21, 2011) – As H. R. Pufnstuf marks 40 years since the series ended its trailblazing run on Saturday mornings, Vivendi Entertainment honors the iconic Sid and Marty Krofft creation with H. R. PUFNSTUF: THE COMPLETE SERIES. This three-DVD collection features all 17 episodes, which were originally broadcast between 1969 and 1971.

Presented in standard and collector’s editions, both versions include the entire series accompanied by downloadable vintage coloring sheets, and – for the first time ever on DVD – the rare series episode, “Horror Hotel.” In addition, the Collector’s Edition comes with an exclusive H.R. Pufnstuf bobblehead. Each will be available April 12 at all retail outlets for a suggested list price of $24.99 (standard) and $34.97 (collector’s).

Four decades have past since H. R. Pufnstuf left NBC airwaves, but the colorful series remains popular, not only among those reliving their childhood, but also with others discovering the whimsical world of Living Island for the first time. As a testament to the series’ longevity, Los Angeles based KCET, the largest independent public television station in the country, recently added H. R. Pufnstuf to its weekend line-up of children’s programming.

H. R. PUFNSTUF: THE COMPLETE SERIES is the latest release to stem from the partnership the Krofft brothers and Vivendi Entertainment formed last year. The ongoing collaboration promises to produce a series of DVD sets and compilations that will spotlight the sibling puppeteer’s iconic catalog of children’s television shows.

One of those programs, Lidsville, is heading to the big screen courtesy of DreamWorks Animation. The Krofft brothers will serve as executive producers for the project, which marks the first animated feature film adaptation of their work.

The Kroffts have been producing entertainment treasured by families for more than 40 years. Sid & Marty rose to prominence in the ’70s with a series of remarkable programs that featured elaborate sets and fanciful characters. H.R. Pufnstuf was the first in a long line of popular programs created by the Kroffts, including The Bugaloos, Land Of The Lost, Sigmund & the Sea Monsters and The Krofft Supershow to name but a few. The Krofft’s success led them to produce various prime-time series and specials, including The Brady Bunch Hour, The Donny & Marie Show and Barbara Mandrell & The Mandrell Sisters series.

Special Delivery Remake Alert

Sorry I’m posting this so late in the day but this is the first chance I’ve had to get this to you all.

Tonight on the Starz Kids & Family channel they will air “The Ransom of Red Chief” a 1998 remake of the original 1975 movie, which aired as a Nickelodeon Special Delivery on April 1 & 16, 1982.

The new version was made in 1998 and stars Christopher Lloyd and Michael Jeter as: “A pair of bumbling hoboes who kidnap the rambunctious 9-year-old son of a local banker --- a plan that almost immediately begins to backfire.” (Comedy, 120 Mins.)
