Today’s In Search Of Saturday features two of our Classic Nickelodeon family members who are looking for some of their favorite shows. Below you will read the emails sent to me form both Eric and Tracie and my responses to them. I was unable to help them in their search, but I feel confident that someone out there will be able them find what they’re looking for. If so, please email me, my email is listed below, and I will pass your information on to them or post your responses in the comment section and hopefully they will see it very soon.

Also, I would like to extend my deepest apologies to Eric for making him wait so long for my response. I live in Oklahoma and our primaries were June 26^th and I was helping to campaign for a gentlemen who was running for governor and you caught me at a very, very, busy time and I’m so sorry I wasn't able to get back to you sooner. Subject: Looking for a Nickelodeon Today's Special Film

Hello!

Thanks for your entertaining and informative blog, it brought back many happy memories of old shows and films.

I stumbled onto it because I am trying to find a film that I saw several times as a child in the early to mid-1980s on Nickelodeon, and I think as a Today's Special.

It was about two females, friends, during the summer at what I believe to be a New England or Canadian town with a family, eccentric, who they believed to be witches.  The film had a dark and ambiguous ending.  The one girl goes to spend an evening being baby-sat by the family and during a thunderstorm and power outage she tries to escape and they have sacrificed her or not.   I thought I found it online several years ago, forgot about, and wanted to find it again.

I thought if anyone would know it might be you.

That being said, I’ll be honest with you, this does not sound familiar to me, the only Special Delivery I can think of that had witches in it was “The Witches and the Grinnygog” from 1983. Here is the link to the first episode, I haven’t watched this in a while, but I know that later there is a group of older women who are all witches. Watch this episode, or maybe more than just one, and let me know if this is the right one. In the mean time I’ll put out a couple of feelers to see if anyone remembers this.

Dear Peggy,

Thank you for the kind note, and correction.  But no, that is not the show.  It was a film they aired more than once, and I found it in the early 2000's on another Nicolodeon fan site that seems to have gone the way of all flesh.  

This was a film about a family in New England or the Canadian Maritimes, the actors were American, except for an old woman, the main "witch" who had either a real or fake Eastern European accent.  It was never clear how much was true and how much was the two main child actors imagination.  It was set during the summer holidays and was likely a made for TV special.  I saw it at least three times as a child between 1983 and 1987.

I am desperately looking for the complete 1979 season of this show. I need six episodes to complete my collection and have been looking for years. These episodes are not on youtube and were never released, so I'm hoping to find someone who recorded them back then. Of course I'm willing to pay.
