Classic Nickelodeon Sighting

Crown for Christmas – 2015
Danica McKeller & Rupert Penny-Jones
A fired New York City maid reluctantly becomes the governess to a poorly behaved little girl who turns out to be European royalty. Before long the two form a strong bond, and the governess also grows close to the young princess’ engaged father. (Drama, 120 Minutes)

In less than ten minutes in as the New York City maid and her sister are leaving for work she gets into a snowball fight with a young man who is one of their neighbors. She throws a snow ball at him, runs off and yells out, “GOT YOU LAST!”

·        Later as she is leaving her home in New York that same young man picks up a snowball and throws it at the car and yells, “GOT YOU LAST!”

·        Why is that important? Because Plus & Minus, who were puppets on Pinwheel, use to play a game of tag and when they would tag each other they would say, “got you last!”

Classic Nick Wed. – Vegetable Soup
March 5, 2013

I’m sorry I forgot to post this the other day.

Vegetable Soup was one a very unique program in that it was produced by the New York State Education Department that originally ran on PBS from September 22, 1975 to December 14, 1978. The show continued to run on both PBS and Nickelodeon though the early to mid 1980’s.

== Concept == From Wikipedia
The purpose of the program was to be a television series for children to help counter the negative, destructive effects of racial prejudice and racial isolation and to reinforce and dramatize the positive, life-enhancing value of human diversity in entertaining and affective presentations that children could understand and relate to. Vegetable Soup used an interdisciplinary approach to entertain and educate elementary age children in the value of human diversity. Animated segments on the show were created by Jim Simon's Wantu Studios. The musical opening plus 13 Woody the Spoon cooking spots for which Bette Midler did all the voice tracks, and also 48 thirty-second breaks.

Each show was 30-minutes in length and consisted of a variety of regular segments that varied from show to show. They included:

The Big Game Hunt – hosted by Gary Goodrow
The Big Job Hunt – hosted by Susan Taylor

Classic Nick Wed. – Dusty’s Treehouse

During the very early days of Nickelodeon there was a lovely children’s program called Dusty's Treehouse which starred Stuart Rosen as “Dusty” and featured the puppets of Tony Urbano.

Dusty lived in, yes you guessed it, a treehouse with his animal friends Maxine the crow, Scooter the squirrel, and Stanley the red-haired spider who wore sneakers. Each day the characters would learn about the world around them and at times Dusty would go on field trips to factories to see how products were made. In addition to the animal puppets shadow puppets were occasionally used to act out fairy tales.

Mr. Rosen was the creator and co-executive producer, and based it on a program he did in 1966-67 on KCET, then an NET station in Los Angeles. The show won eight Emmy Awards.

The show originated from KNXT (now KCBS-TV), the local CBS flagship TV station in Los Angeles where it ran from 1970-1980 and was briefly syndicated nationally (including on the rest of the CBS O&O stations), and then appeared in reruns on the children's cable TV channel Nickelodeon for four additional seasons.

Stuart M. Rosen (born 26 June 1939) is a voice director and voice actor. He is also a writer, he wrote and starred in the TV series Dusty's Treehouse. He has voice directed many cartoons and commercials for television and had live-action roles in Rome and The Huntress.
