With St. Patrick’s Day just around the corner it’s only fitting that the Classic Nickelodeon Fan Blog post something…well…green. So in honor of St. Pat’s here are your instructions on “How To Make A Gumby Costume”.

Now I must admit that I have never attempted this myself if you read this and make it please send me your pictures and I’ll post them!!! In fact I will not only post them here I will also post them on my new Classic Nickelodeon Forever website! So everyone put your creative hat on and start sending in those pictures!!!

Introduction

This cute television icon seems like a good candidate for a Halloween costume, but Gumby is actually an ambitious choice. For a complete Gumby, the costume will cover the entire body, and it might take awhile to get using to walking inside of it. Nevertheless, there are always different ways to go based on degrees of authenticity.


Things You'll Need
Styrofoam sheets
Glue
Exacto knife or scissors
Green craft paint


Step One - Get Styrofoam sheets. For an authentic Gumby costume, Styrofoam is the best, You'll want a sheet at least as tall as the person who will wear the costume, and several feet wide, enough to cut out limbs and spare pieces.

Step Two - Cut out the body, arms, and legs. You can use an exacto knife or even scissors, but you'll probably need to hold the material down as you cut, or it will be too hard to cut through.

Step Three - Lay out the pieces so you know what goes where. You'll want two of each piece, a front and a back.

Step Four - Glue pieces together. Experts recommend a PVA glue like Weldbond, but with the disclaimer that PVAs need pressure to bond. You can use heavy objects to pressure the Styrofoam pieces while they dry, or you can go with a lighter glue that bonds without pressure.

Step Five - Let pieces dry.

Step Six - Paint them green. Use craft glue that is found at a craft or hobby store.

Step Seven - Add features such as mouth and googly eyes. You can use any kind of material for the eyes.

Tips & Warnings
Make sure your Gumby costume is properly ventilated. Design a hole for breathing and two holes for eyes. Also, make sure any fumes from the glue have dissipated before putting the costume on.

With 'Curious George,' Illumination Looks To Make More Animation Mischief

EXCLUSIVE: Filmgoers soon will have another round of adventures with the Man With the Yellow Hat.

Illumination Entertainment, the animation company founded by former Fox Animation President Chris Meledandri and whose movies Universal finances and distributes, is developing a new version of "Curious George."

The movie is expected to feature the wry animated images of "Despicable Me" and will spin a new story of George the monkey/chimpanzee (depending on whether you favor H.A. and Margret Rey's text or the tail-less images) who's taken out of the jungle by an eccentric explorer to live in the city, where mischief always seems to find him.

Universal and production company Imagine produced an animated "Curious George" just four years ago, in which Will Ferrell voiced the Man With the Yellow hat. Mired in development for years, the movie didn't entirely catch on with filmgoers, grossing just $58 million in the U.S. (A second installment, "Curious George 2: Follow that Monkey!," came out as a direct-to-DVD release in 2009.)

The Illumination film is expected to start from scratch. It's getting a script from Larry Stuckey, who wrote the upcoming "Little Fockers," the third installment in the "Meet the Parents" franchise, for Universal.

Universal is very keen on Illumination, which with "Despicable" gave the studio a long-awaited family-friendly animation hit. After the success of that film, Meledandri's company is also developing "Where's Waldo?" and "Dr. Seuss' the Lorax" movies as well as a sequel to "Despicable Me."

Reboots of movies that haven't been gone very long -- "Haunted Mansion" and "Spider-Man" -- continue to remain in vogue in Hollywood. They'll be an adventure, but we suppose if any character is up for one, it's Curious George.

Dressed in his characteristic duffle coat and oversized hat, cuddly Paddington Bear has been capturing the imagination of children around the world for generations. While the '90s animated Adventures of Paddington Bear have made it to DVD (back in 2002!), the original 1975 stop-motion program from the U.K. hasn't come to disc in the U.S.A. before. Video is full screen, and audio is English Dolby 2.0 Stereo. The Complete Classic Series release also features a lot of bonus content: for starters it includes all three Paddington Bear specials: "Paddington Birthday Bonanza," "Paddington Goes to School" and "Paddington Goes to the Movies". It also includes 15 bonus episodes from two other shows in the Cookie Jar library: The Wombles and Huxley Pig. Finally there is DVD-ROM content that includes Wallpaper, Activity Pages (Spot The Difference, Word Search and Color-in Pages) plus other printable fun (door hangers and finger puppets). Very nice!
