It’s
been over 50 years since Julie Andrews twirled on an Austrian hill top to
proclaim that “the hills are alive with the sound of music.” To celebrate the
historic anniversary, ABC’s Diane Sawyer took a trip to Austria with Andrews to
revisit where the iconic film was shot. “The Untold Story of The Sound of
Music” visited old filming locations and allowed viewers to walk down memory
lane as Andrews told stories about what it was like to create a film that has
become a worldwide phenomenon. Of course, in reliving those memories, Andrews
revealed a few things that many “Sound of Music” fans didn’t know.

This
movie about the Trapp family is based more closely upon the memoirs of Maria
von Trapp than the later movie, "The Sound of Music."
