Show Title Needed

Show Title Needed

Wednesday, January 28, 2015

The other day I received an IM on Facebook from my friend Andrew. He asked if I could help me him remember the name of a show which aired on Nickelodeon in the 1980’s. I wasn’t able to help him but I thought maybe some of you could. Here is a copy of the conversation we had. If you know the name of this show please post it in the comments below.

Thank you in advance,

Hey Peggy Sue, I'm trying to remember the name of this Nick show perhaps you could help me with.

Peggy Sue – 1/26, 9:37pm
I can try. Whatcha got?

Andrew – 1/26, 9:38pm
I can’t remember the name of it I just remember it was about a bunch of urban street kids hanging out trying alcohol, running from gangs who beat up some kids grandpa there’s a dead cat in it that eats a spoiled sandwich it was kind of a creepy show for kids the main characters were this young black woman and this nerdy young kid with glasses

Peggy Sue – 1/26, 9:42pm
How old are you? I'm asking for a reason.

Andrew – 1/26, 9:43pm

Peggy Sue – 1/26, 9:43pm
hummm, 7 years younger than me. I don't remember that as a SD. I asked for your age thinking that it may have been something that aired in the 90's which would be after my time.

Andrew – 1/26, 9:44pm
It was early 80s era

Peggy Sue – 1/26, 9:45pm
Well, it could have been an after school special. In December I went thought the list of SD titles that I had and saved all the links to post to my blog as Classic Nickelodeon Special Deliveries. What I discovered was that a couple of titles that I had listed were not SD they were after school specials. But don't give up hope b/c there is still a chance that we can find the title.

I should have access to my Word program tomorrow (have to go buy ANOTHER code for it - I'm seriously pissed about that) Anyway, on Wednesday I will post a special blog asking for the title to this program with the clues you've given me. Surely someone out there would know what it is.

Andrew – 1/26, 9:49pm

The kid blows a horn to alert his friends to arrest the gang that beat up his grandpa that's the last clue I can remember.

Special Delivery - A Movie Star's Daughter (1979)

As promised here this the Special Delivery that I told you I would post when I got my Word back but I should tell you that this Special Delivery is actually NOT a Special Delivery.

While researching the titles I had listed for the Nickelodeon Special Deliveries which aired during the 1980’s I discovered that this title, “A Movie Star's Daughter” from 1979 was actually an “ABC After School Special.” So, after watching this movie I have decided to include it in this “Special Delivery” series since it is in the same time frame as the other Special Delivery shows and fits the standards I have set for this blog, Yahoo group and Facebook pages / groups which is that programs and videos I post will be family friendly. Yes I realize that this is 2015 and practically anything goes and does on regular television and the internet however that is not the atmosphere that I promote.

Now without any further a due the Classic Nickelodeon Fan Blog presents…

A Quick Note

Hey Y'all,

I just wanted to post a quick note to everyone to let you know that I didn't forget to post the Special Delivery yesterday or Classic Nick Rocks on Saturday.

For the past few months my computer has been infected with malware and viruses and last Saturday night I lost my proxy server all together. My friend tried to get it back but no matter what he did it didn't work so he took my computer home with him so that he could really get into it and figure out what happened.

In the end he had to restore my computer back to it's factory settings which meant that I lost my Office 365 program so at the moment I am unable to get into my Word where I store all of the links to the Special Deliveries. But the good news is that I will be back up and running either today or tomorrow so as soon as I can get into my documents I will be able to recover the links and post the next Special Delivery.

Thank you for your understanding and if you like this blog and the things I share please let me know. There are times when I wonder if anyone likes or even sees this blog so a quick thumbs up or hello is always appreciated.

Special Delivery - A Cricket in Times Square

For a while now I’ve wanted to do something special for my Yahoo group, A New Beginning For Classic Nickelodeon, this blog and my Facebook pages and groups – all of which are dedicated to Classic 80’s Nickelodeon.

At first I wasn’t sure what to do. I’ve already been posting 80’s videos for Classic Nick Rocks for a few Saturdays now but I had stopped posting my Classic Nick Wednesday articles mostly due to the lack of time I had with my writing course.  My posting has been few and far between and I am very sorry for that; sometimes I just don’t know what to post and I get very little feedback so I don’t even know if y’all like any of this. But still I wanted to do something for y’all to let you know that I’m still here, I still love you and I miss you and this is what I came up with.

Not too long ago I looked up the titles to all of the Special Delivery shows that I had the titles for on YouTube not knowing what I’d find. To my surprise and delight I was able to find about twenty four shows by title. I also discovered that a few of them had not aired on Nickelodeon Special Delivery but were, in fact, ABC Afterschool Specials. I watched the programs and decided that they were suitable for this blog and I will be posting them for our Special Delivery and they will be labeled as such.

And so, with that, the Classic Nickelodeon Fan Blog, in association with A New Beginning For Classic Nickelodeon Yahoo group, would like to present to you our version of the Nickelodeon classic Special Delivery! I will try to post these every second and fourth Sunday of the month with a possible Monday if I don’t post on Sunday and will be shown in alphabetical order. I hope that you enjoy this treat and that it brings back as many fond memories for you as it has for me. J
