In Search of Saturday

Welcome to “In Search of Saturdays" an advertising space I’ve designed to help our members find those long lost movies, cartoons, TV shows, toys, games and anything else that we’ve all been looking for, for a very long time.

The instructions are simple. Post your personal “looking for” list in the comments and we’ll all see if we can help you find what you’re looking for. - This will be a group effort please.

If you can’t remember the name of a show or toy that’s alright, post what you can remember and maybe someone here will be able to tell you what it is. Also please remember that if you are listing television shows or movies please let us know if you are looking to purchase these shows or if you just want to watch them online. Then we, the members of the group, will help try to help each other and go “in search of” those items for our fellow members.

A good places to start our searches is iOffer which, in my opinion, is better than eBay b/c you can find lots of shows there that you can’t find anywhere else.

Show Title Needed – Pinwheel Cartoon

Recently I received this email from a gentlemen looking for the title of a Pinwheel Cartoon. Here is his original email as well as a video his brother found of this animated short. What he’s looking for is the name of this particular cartoon so I’m posting his email here along with the video in hopes that someone can help him out.

Subject: Pinwheel short cartoon

Peggy, I stumbled upon your blog which is where I got your email. I saw your interest in classic Nickelodeon. On the show pinwheel was a short cartoon featuring an elephant that was a painting artist. There was a black ink/paint spot that came to life and would cause all sorts of mischief. I have not been able to find a name for this cartoon or and video. Would you have a recollection of this cartoon short or am I just going to have to give up my search?

Peggy! Thank you for getting back to me. I was talking to my brother about this because he remembers the cartoon short as well. He found this on YouTube

92 minutes in is the elephant painting a tuba and the ink splotch being all mischievous. Still have no idea what the cartoon was called but would love to find out more about it. I wonder if there is an archive of this particular cartoon. If only I knew what it was called?

Classic Nick Sighting – The Little Prince Rose Parade Float

Netflix: The Little Prince – Rose Parade Float

Dimensions: 26’H x 16’W x 42’L
Float Title: Soar Beyond Imagination

Float Theme
The Little Prince was a big new title that we launched on Netflix this year and something that was both part of our foray into feature films, but also family-friendly programming. It is a story we love and we feel not only honors a internationally beloved book that has been passed down through generations, but also the tradition of families sharing time together watching great content, which is harder and harder to find time for in this day and age. The float shows Zero17 and her fox flying through asteroids searching for the Little Prince. The Rose Parade is also something that has become a tradition across generations and it is something that families share together as part of their holiday season. So we felt The Little Prince and The Rose Parade were connected in that way. And, of course, you can’t ignore that a main character in The Little Prince is The Rose! We named our float “Soar Beyond Imagination” because success and imagination are inextricably linked, especially as we look for the next creative innovations that will make our world a better place. The film’s story reminds us not to get so wrapped up in our adult lives that we lose our ability to be imaginative and fail to instill the value of imagination in the next generation.

Flowers/Materials used
The Front Unit has clouds of blue iris, white carnations and white gypsophila. The neighbors plane is decorated in cranberry seed, silverleaf, ground orange lentil and onion seed. The asteroids consist of seeds, petals and fresh flower blooms. The Prince’s home planet is covered in pink, hot pink, lavender and white roses. The Rear unit is a garden of tulips, amaryllis, daffodils, hyacinth, daisys, and snapdragons. The large tree is a paper bark trunk with a canopy of magnolia branches. The old man’s home is a combination of lettuce seed, crushed walnut shells, poppy seed and pepper. There is accents of carnation petals, lunaria, cut statice and ground split pea.

86. Netflix – “Soar Beyond Imagination”: The Internet television network is reaching new heights with their debut parade entry. Beloved book-turned-movie, the float portrays “The Little Prince,” with the hopes to inspire young and old to stay imaginative. The story, a new Netflix original film, is about ‘an overscheduled girl who befriends an eccentric aviator; he regales her with tales about the adventures of an unusual boy who lives on an asteroid.’ Fun fact: The main character in the story is the Rose.
