Special Delivery – The Snowman &The Snowman and The Snowdog
Opening: "I remember that winter because
it had brought the heaviest snow I had ever seen. Snow had fallen steadily all
night long and in the morning I woke in a room filled with light and silence,
the whole world seemed to be held in a dream-like stillness. It was a magical
day... and it was on that day I made the Snowman."
A new twenty three minute special titled The
Snowman and The Snowdog aired on Channel 4 on Christmas Eve 2012 at 8pm GMT, to
celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of the original short and of Channel 4.
Produced at the London-based animation company Lupus Films, with many of the
original team returning, the sequel was made in the same traditional techniques
as the first film, and features the Snowman, a new little boy and a snow dog,
flying over landmarks and going to another party.
One winter's day a boy builds a snowman then,
at the stroke of midnight the snowman comes to life. The boy invites the
snowman in the house were they play and explore while his parents slept.
After exploring the house they go outside
where they go on a motorcycle right and later they fly over the boy's village
and soon they are flying over the ocean. When they finally land they are in a
snow-covered forest where they join a party of snowmen and meet Father
Christmas with his reindeer. After a while they return home and they boy goes
to bed. The morning after the return journey, the sun has come out and the boy
wakes up to find the snowman has melted. Then he reaches into his pocket and
finds the snowman scarf given to him by Father Christmas. It had been a
wonderful night indeed.

Special Delivery – Under the Mountain
Under the Mountain is an eight-part television series based on the novel of the same name written by Maurice Gee that first aired in 1981 and was produced by Television New Zealand.When twins Rachel and Theo Matheson first meet the mysterious Mr. Jones when they are young children lost in the woods near their home. Eight years later they meet Mr. Jones again in Auckland while they are spending their summer holidays with their aunt, uncle and cousin. It is during this time they learn that Mr. Jones is an alien, sent from another world in a battle against another race of slimy, slug-like beasts / monsters / aliens who strip a planet until it is barren then move on to the next to do the same.
While in their human form these creatures are known as the evil Mr. Wilberforce family who, despite their slug-like form have a keen sense of sight and smell as they spy on Rachel and Theo from across the lake.

Special Delivery – Marc Summers’ Mystery Magical Special
Summery from Wikipedia
Summers' character and three young children (friends of his, all of whom seem to play themselves) arrive at a mysterious mansion after they get a flat tire. Within, they find, among other things, heads falling from the ceiling, Burton performing card tricks, and even a bizarre demon-like villain character who engages in a prolonged swordfight with Burton. At the end of this fight, Burton performs another display of his talents, wherein he reveals that the demon character never existed, and that the entire ordeal was, in his words, "just a trick". Afterward, the characters leave the mansion, where they meet another lost traveler, Stan Allen, magician, looking for a phone (he had run out of gas), whom they wryly tell to "help [himself]".

Special Delivery – Escape to Grizzly Mountain
In this charming story a boy is moved by the
plight of an abused cub kept by an unscrupulous circus owner. As he attempts a rescue
of the cub he befriends a Native American trainer troubled by his own
collaboration with the cruel circus owner. He tells the boy of a mystical cave
where "the pure of heart" can travel back to a simpler past. Realizing
that may be the only way to recuse the bear cub the boy sets out to find the
cave but when the cub escapes his leash and the boy travels back into the 1841
wilderness and meets Haggerty's mountain man alone. Together they devise a plan
to rescue the bear cub which involves Haggerty traveling to the future to help
out. As the disclaimer states, this movie may feature Grizzly Adams himself,
Dan Haggerty, but it's not about Grizzly Adams. Instead, it's

Special Delivery – Sound Effects Master Fred Newman
Some of you might think this is an unusual
choice for a Special Delivery, and perhaps it is, but if you were around Nickelodeon
in the early to mid-1980’s then you will remember Fred Newman as the hose of
Livewire, a talk show just for kids.
This audience participated style show was
designed for kids of all ages, and the show's main focus discussed true current
events and stories during those times. They also mixed it up with a variety of
musical guests, storytellers and actors. Even Fred himself appeared as a guest
teaching the audience about sound and how to create sound.
Livewire was the first Nickelodeon talk show to achieve a CableACE
Award. It was also the #1 rated show on Nickelodeon in 1982, and never went
below #7 in the ratings during the 5-year span of the show.
On a personal note, I love Fred Newman, he’s talented and funny and to
this day I still have a recording of him on cassette tape when he was a guest
himself on Livewire. I loved his “personal theme song” that he did, cracked me
up!
With that being said I hope

Double Dare Week on the Splat!
Hey Guys!
So how many of you watched
the LIVED Double Dare stream over at The Splat’s f/b page the other night? I
did and thought it was great. I didn’t enjoy contestants (not a fan of “All
that”) but all together it was fun to watch. The challenges were great and the obstacle
course felt like old times.
That being said this week The
Splat television network is airing Double Dare all week! Now, I have Cable One
as my provider and they cut the MTV / Nickelodeon package well over a year ago
so I won’t be able to watch these but you guys can!

Nickelodeon’s nostalgia block The Splat is honoring the 30th anniversary of the network’s seminal slime game show, Double Dare, in a big way this summer. Well, Summers.
The network has enlisted original host Marc Summers to return, for the first time in 16 years, to the Double Dare set for a live edition of the game show that’ll dominate one night of San Diego Comic-Con this year.
The show celebrates its 30th anniversary on October 6 and is the network’s longest-running game show, having aired from 1986-1993 in its original run. “Thirty years later, people still stop me on the street every day and tell me playing Double Dare is the one thing they wish they could have done growing up,” Summers says.
Lucky fans at Comic-Con will get to do just that, in a nighttime exhibition on July 22. The event will be streamed live on The Splat’s Facebook beginning at 9:30 p.m. PT, wherein fans will be able to watch the red and blue teams compete in rounds of trivia and a slew of classic physical challenges from Double Dares past: Down the Hatch, the Wringer, the Human Hamster Wheel, and the legendary Double Dare Nose.
The Comic-Con Double Dare event kicks off a week of Double Dare reminiscence hosted by Summers on TeenNick (beginning July 25). The line-up features flashbacks, new Double Dare interstitial moments, coverage of the Comic-Con event, and episodes from all three iterations of the game show (Double Dare, Family Double Dare, and Double Dare 2000).
Nickelodeon’s presence at Comic-Con isn’t just limited to the Double Dare revival. In addition to its daily floor booth activities, the network is plotting a 25-year retrospective of Nickelodeon animation panel for Thursday, July 21 (featuring Hey Arnold! creator Craig Bartlett, Invader Zim’s Jhonen Vasquez, The Fairly OddParents’ Butch Hartman, and Rugrats’ Arlene Klasky); a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles panel on July 22; a women in animation panel celebrating pioneering female cartoon creators on July 22; and a Back to the ‘90s reunion panel featuring the casts of All That and Legends of the Hidden Temple on July 23.
